Motor Vehicle Thefts and Burglaries in Campus Area
Multiple motor vehicle thefts on and around the UT campus have been reported in parking areas since the beginning of the fall semester. Additionally, vehicle burglaries have been reported and remain an issue for our community. The UT Police Department would like to offer some tips to help prevent vehicle thefts and burglaries.
UT Police Department to Co-Host Training on Hate Crimes October 3
The UT Police Department will co-host a training on hate crimes for local, state and federal law enforcement officers, investigators, and prosecutors on Thursday, October 3. The daylong conference will include topics such as the impact of hate crimes on communities, the reporting of and data related to hate crimes, and the enforcement of hate crime laws.
Three Students Awarded UTPD Memorial Scholarship
UTPD has awarded three students its Memorial Scholarship for the 2019–20 academic year.Victoria Brooks, Ryan Cutting, and Ronald “RJ” Wade will receive $1,700 each to be used over two semesters. The UTPD Memorial Scholarship provides financial assistance to legal dependents of former and current UTPD employees to attend UT Knoxville.

Kestner Receives Award at Police Academy Graduation
UTPD Officer Eric Kestner received a top police award Friday during his graduation from the police academy. Kestner received the William D. Nuchols Award for Law Enforcement Excellence, one of the highest honors given in his Blount County Sheriff’s Office Basic Law Enforcement Training Academy graduating class.
