Director Appointed for UT Security and Surveillance Systems

Joe Carriker has been appointed to oversee the university’s electronic security including video surveillance and campus alarm systems.A director has been appointed to oversee the university’s electronic security including video surveillance and campus alarm systems.

Joe Carriker will begin the position January 13. He comes to UT from Broward College in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, where he was district director of security and support services.

In his UT role, he will coordinate the installation of new cameras, alarms and access control devices with campus partners including academic units, Facilities Services, Office of Information Technology, Institutional Compliance, and third-party vendors.

Additionally, he will provide guidance to campus planners on physical security designs for new constructions and major building renovations, supervise campus alarm monitoring and be responsible for policy development, compliance review, billing and system maintenance.

His position is housed under UT Public Safety. He will report to Troy Lane, UT associate vice chancellor of public safety and chief of police.

Public Safety also oversees the UT Police Department, the Office of Emergency Management, the Department of Environmental Health and Safety and UT Clery Compliance.
