Anastasia Morrisey: Former Security Guard, UTPD Supervisor

Anastasia Morrisey began her UT career as a community service officer providing security for the bookstore. She quickly decided that job wasn’t for her and applied for a dispatch position.

“I got hired in communications and fell in love with the job,” she said. “I love to be busy, doing multiple things at a time. I have a huge respect for police officers and what they do. I truly enjoy helping them out any way that I can and ensuring that they are safe. I also genuinely enjoy helping people in their times of need.”

The Powell native has worked in UTPD dispatch for 12 years. She was recently promoted to head supervisor.

Before coming to UT, she detailed cars for a living.

Outside interests: Morrisey enjoys photography, shopping, and baking. She also enjoys spending time with her family and doing activities together including going to the movies, museums and the zoo.

What surprises people about your job? “I’d say probably the types of phone calls we receive sometimes that are nothing the police department can handle. But we are always here, so we get the call. Also the amount of responsibility that we have for the safety of both the public and our officers.”

If she didn’t do this . . . She would probably be in nursing. “I have always had an interest in it,” she said.
